FUTURE HISTORY
FREE WORK / SERIES ZEITWERT 2017

This is not a visualization of a building which will be built in the future. No, this building is going to be removed from the center of Potsdam to give space to private properties and stores.

Built between 1971 and 1977 in the former GDR, it was originally used as an institute for teachers’ education and later by the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP). Despite the protest against the teardown, the city government decided to build houses in the historic style the time Frederick the Great resided in Potsdam.

The abstract style I chose emphasizes the aesthetic qualities of the building and creates stylistic connections to the neighborhood - yet it indicates that the building will soon disappear.
